Our Story

I grew up on rural farmland in Nebraska, where plants were part of everyday life, not decoration.

My grandmother and my mother both ran thriving greenhouse businesses, and from the time my siblings and I could crawl, we were surrounded by seeds, soil, and flowers. We learned early that healthy plants start with quality inputs: good soil, strong roots, and patience. Gardening wasn’t a trend—it was a way of life.

As an adult hobby gardener in the Northeast, I found myself relearning those lessons through trial and error. I began to understand the value of rich, living soil and how every insect, pollinator, and organism plays a role. Nothing in a healthy ecosystem is accidental, and nothing thrives in isolation.

I created Wild Home out of both need and experience. While interest in native plants and biodiversity is growing, resources for home gardeners are often fragmented, overwhelming, or overly academic. Why should it be so hard to start a native plant garden? Why can’t there be a simple, approachable way to turn a yard—any size, any location—into something meaningful?

Wild Home is designed to make native planting accessible. Our app helps everyday homeowners cut through the noise, understand what grows best where they live, and confidently create gardens that support pollinators, improve soil health, and restore small but powerful pockets of biodiversity.

Wild Home is just beginning to bloom. We’re actively expanding our plant database across regions in the United States, with plans to support gardeners in countries like Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Canada in the future.

Our long-term goal is ambitious but simple: one million native plant gardens across the United States. Healthy soil, diverse insect life, and abundant pollinators don’t just make gardens more beautiful—they help feed wildlife, support growers, and keep our ecosystems in balance.
